Oh, the Beach!

In Aidan's words, "Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeach!!!!"

Last Friday, we drove back to the beach. This time, Aidan wanted to go further into the water. I started to get a wee bit nervous when the waves were crashing against his waist (and my knees). He is a brave little guy. He had fun jumping the waves, squishing sand in his hands, and picking up shells. We're looking forward to our next trip!

Another Park Trip

This time, Elmo came along.

Aidan has become quite confident on the slide. He goes down yelling, "Wheeee!"

Yay for Elmo!

Even though Aidan has never seen Elmo on the TV screen, he loves his Elmo books, his Elmo doll, his Elmo figurine, and his Elmo CD that we got from the library. Here is clapping because I just hit "Play" again on the CD. "Yay, 'Mo!" says Aidan.

Father's Day Cooking

Today, we celebrated Father's Day with a couple new friends.

Unfortunately, they didn't stick around long.

Tossing Shells

video

This morning, Aidan and I went to the beach. Here's a little video of Aidan tossing seashells. He has just learned how to throw things, and I think he was excited to see how he could throw a shell.

Saturday on the Cape

We spent the weekend in Cape Cod - our first trip out there as a family. We arrived to find beautiful weather and a gorgeous beach. We showed up in the morning at First Encounter Beach (where the pilgrims first saw Indians) and the water was at low tide. It was amazing. For as far as we could see, there were patches of sand and strips of shallow water. Then, over the course of the two hours we were there, the tide started coming in -- very fast! We had to keep moving so we wouldn't be enveloped by water. It was incredible to experience.

Aidan loved the water and the wet sand. He spent a while tossing the sand, experimenting with its texture.
Aidan didn't want to stop for lunch. But he finally got hungry. When he finished, he was up running again, playing in the sand and water.
In this section of water, we found some little hermit crabs. Aidan was funny. He kept trying to grab them. And then he caught one! It was in his tiny fist before we knew it. He said, "Ouch," like Curious George in Curious George at the Aquarium when George touches a crab. (But Aidan didn't let go of the hermit crab -- it didn't hurt him. Funny boy.)

Tim managed to scoop up a hermit crab for closer (hands off) inspection.

What's a trip to the beach without a family portrait?
Before we left, we stripped the baby of his wet clothes and let him frolick a little on the way to the car. Here he is carrying the lunch garbage (lovely).
Overall, it was a most perfect outing. We continued our vacation with jaunts to Provincetown, Marconi Beach, and to the scene of the first telegraph transmission at the Marconi Site. We dined on Savory Pizza in North Truro and oysters at the Truro Vineyard festival.
Thanks goes to journalist, Tom Haines, who wrote the travel article in the Globe that inspired our getaway!

Stuff We've Been Up to Lately
